Laver Cultivation Nets
Working together with you to solve your laver cultivation challenges
Lavers are edible seaweeds that are also known by their Japanese name, nori. Laver cultivation is conducted across Japan in order to ensure a stable supply of this staple of the dining table. Each year in early October, nets are seeded with laver spores at sites on land or just offshore as part of the cultivation process. From late October, the germlings are grown at sea, developing fronds which are collected with harvesting boats. Nitto Seimo provides the nets that are essential for this cultivation process. We are the only manufacturer to offer knotless laver cultivation nets. Knotless nets increase the efficiency of manual laver harvesting, aiding growers (we also offer knotted laver cultivation nets). In addition to nets, we also sell laver conchocelis sporelings, floats, and various types of ropes, providing total support for laver cultivation.
What Nitto Seimo
Can Do for You
Optimal gear design to help you increase productivity
Flat net assembly
Conventional laver cultivation nets are made by attaching the net mesh to a rope running lengthwise with a sewing machine. Nitto Seimo, however, also produces flat laver cultivation nets by weaving the netting into the rope. This design is highly regarded because it eliminates rope shifting and prevents damage to the netting from the machine during harvesting.
Aquaculture management support
In addition to net sales, we also supply laver conchocelis sporelings, floats, and other supplies, providing total support for laver cultivation management.
