Aquaculture Nets
Total support for the growing aquaculture industry
Attention is increasingly being paid to the aquaculture industry and artificial fish farming from the perspectives of resource protection and stable food supply. Nitto Seimo is also making active contributions to solve issues in this field. For example, as major aquaculture companies consider ways to make their operations more environmentally friendly, we are responding by offering copper alloy meshes that stay cleaner and can be used longer than conventional fish cages, and which can be recycled. Another industry issue is the difficulty of finding new locations for aquaculture because the calm sea areas most suited to fish farming have already been fully utilized. In answer, we are supporting the development of new aquaculture businesses by providing technologies that enable fish to be cultivated in areas where the waves and currents are more severe.
What Nitto Seimo
Can Do for You
Optimal fishing gear design to help you get better catches
Aquaculture site surveys and selection
Nitto Seimo doesn’t only sell nets, but also supports the aquaculture industry from the selection of suitable farming areas through site surveys (covering current speed and direction, water temperature, bathymetric charts, and seabed conditions), to the proposal of new environmentally-conscious fishing gear and equipment installation. With labor shortages becoming a more serious issue in recent years, we also help customers reduce their need for manpower through fish cage and farm maintenance.
Current and wave simulation
Every aquaculture site has different conditions, so cage design has to be optimized individually. The design of large-scale tuna cages is a particularly difficult challenge. Nitto Seimo makes use of the NaLA simulation software system to quantify how a fish cage will deform and where loads will be applied when it is exposed to ocean currents and waves. This enables us to propose the optimum design for you based on the data.
Developing aquaculture sites in new waters
Large-scale, open-ocean submersible fish cages
To solve the issue of the dwindling number of unused sites available for conventional aquaculture, Nitto Seimo has developed a technology that allows fish farming to take place in waters with more severe waves and currents that were previously considered unsuitable for aquaculture. We have commercialized and are providing the world’s first large-scale submersible fish cages. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes are used in these cages which can be filled with air or water at will to make them float and sink while fish are being farmed inside.
Aquaculture management support
We provide total support for aquaculture management, from the supply of
the necessary feed to customers and sale of farmed fish to markets,
to fish cage maintenance.
Contributing to the Development
of Overseas Aquaculture Industry
Supporting the overseas aquaculture industry with technologies refined in Japan
Leveraging the experience and technologies we have cultivated in Japan, we are also working to support overseas aquaculture projects. We have particularly expanded our operations in the countries of Southeast Asia, where the industry is experiencing remarkable growth. In 2012, we established a factory in Thailand to strengthen our production system and sales network in the area. In addition, we are engaging in ongoing research into the business of fish farming in collaboration with an Indonesian aquaculture company. We aim to contribute by providing not just products but total business coordination, from juvenile production to cultivation, distribution, and sales.
Main Products Used
in Our Aquaculture Nets
-
Knotless Nets
20%-30% stronger than conventional knotted nets, lighter in weight, and space-saving.
-
Synthetic Fiber Ropes
We offer four types of materials and two types of strands to suit different purposes.
-
Minnow Nets
Fine mesh fishing nets. Can also be used for nets for cultivating juveniles.
-
Ships and Fishing Equipment
We provide machines and other equipment to help reduce the manpower involved in hauling in nets.
-
Antifouling Agents
We develop and supply antifouling agents that inhibit the adherence and growth of marine organisms on fishing nets.
